The Truth Behind Journaling & Why You Need To Start Today

Updated: Jun 8, 2022

There are times when I simply don’t know who I am anymore.

Do you relate? I’m talking about when you find yourself forgetting why you are doing the things you are doing each day.

I start wondering what my purpose is, and why I am even on this earth.

Sounds depressing, I know! But it happens when I forget to reflect and reset my mind.

This is why journaling is so important.

You are a multi-faceted human being that is most likely juggling a bajillion different thoughts a day. You want to succeed at what you are doing. You want to be a good friend. You want to help the people in your life.

We have numerous desires for our lives that are rolling around in our minds every day. They can get incredibly overwhelming.

The bad news is that those aren’t the only thoughts in our heads on a daily basis. We have all the negative thoughts bombarding us as well. There will be times when those are taking over the desires we have!

You know what you want for your life, and I believe that you will do anything to achieve it.

The best tip I have ever been given to truly reflect and keep true to who you are is to journal each day.

There are numerous benefits to journaling each day!

  • It Reminds You Who You Are

The culture that we live in today is so focused on the hustle vibe that we get caught up in it, and forget what our purpose is. We have unique desires for our lives that need to be cultivated in order to stay true.

  • Keeps Your Brain On Track

There are many of us who work better with structure and so we do not operate very well in the hustle culture. Journaling is a way to bring that structure back to your daily life by giving you a routine. You can set a timer each day to write a page in your journal. It’s something that your brain can rely on each day.

  • It Sparks Creativity

If you are reading this blog post, I can most likely assume you lean towards the creative side of life. If that is the case, journaling can be an outlet for you that actually gives back. You never know what is going to come out of your brain each day before you start. Journaling can bring people out of writer's block even!

  • It Strengthens Your Writing Skills

This one is for the writers out there! The time you spend journaling your thoughts is also doubling as writing practice. It probably doesn’t feel like it but any sort of writing is good practice!

I truly believe that we will lose who we are if we do not keep track of it! I know that might sound silly, but it’s true.

How are we supposed to be who we are if we are too stressed out to eat dinner most nights?

How are we supposed to be who we are if we can’t even remember if we locked the front door this morning?

We have to take precautions to safeguard who we are, and who we desire to be! That can start today when you take some time to journal.

The person you know you are will thank you for it.
